This book looks and feels great as a start! The art inside is great, the quality is unmatched in my experience with these types of books. If you're a portable gamer fan or just like old school Nintendo Box Art, this is for you. Delivery was insanely fast and easy!
Man, I know reviewing Bitmap Books projects may sound effusive but they have an uncanny sense of how to present both technical information and visual splendor in equal, exciting measure. Beautiful graphic design, enlightening narrative, striking layouts… a true Game Boy experience in 372 pages. Whether you opened your first DMG in 1989, any model anytime afterward, or have yet to crackle that screen to life at all, this book will make you feel what that phenomenon is like. KUDOS to Bitmap for another amazing piece of gaming scholarship!
Pocket Full Of Posies
Bitmap Books should develop a curriculum to accompany their masterworks, as this volume (like every other book I’ve read from them) is an education. From the Christmas I got my first DMG until yesterday, I learned half of what I know about the Game Boy and its software - today I learned the other half, and corrected half of what I thought I knew. Beautiful graphic design, compelling and instructive writing, all in a tome that makes you feel like you’re opening the box of that first cart, taking it out of its clear plastic case, snapping it into the cart slot and going wide-eyed at the anticipation of the adventure to come. Bravo Bitmap, truly an education in every sense.
I always look forward to the Bitmap books arriving. Highly recommended to anyone you loves the subject matter and cares about the little extra care taken in the service & packaging
The original version GameBoy was my dream machine although I had GBA later. Many games in this book that I did not know and I really enjoy all the contents especially at my current age...
